Mistletoes

True Mistletoes (Phoradendron macrophyllum) is a
parasitic flowering plant that is carried by birds from tree to tree. It is
best seen in the winter when the leaves of hardwood trees lose their leaves.
The True Mistletoes will show as clumps of aerial shoots. These shoots attach
to the branches of trees and will eventually take over the tree and shorten its
life. It is best controlled by trimming off the host branch as soon as it
appears.
